In this episode, Jamal discusses the sobering reality of the dreaded double slap that affects all who learn to love wholeheartedly.  In this podcast, the two slaps are identified, as well as love's reaction to them.  This episode ends with some practical encouragement regarding how to weather those two slaps if we find ourselves on the receiving end, or possibly how to move out of the role of slapper and into the role of lover.  The talk is centered around the biblical parable of The Prodigal Son from the New Testament gospel of Luke 15:11-32.

In episode 1 of The Love Cast, Jamal shares his vision for The Love Cast as a new weekly podcast.  An explanation is given for why the name 'Love Cast' was chosen for this podcast, and why The Love Cast is a vital continuation of the conversation that was initiated by Jamal's newly published book Free To Love

In this episode, the term 'buzz word' is defined and contrasted with reality.  Jamal talks about why 'Christ' has actually become a buzz word and has become disconnected from the reality of Christ, which is love personified through relationships.  In addition to this, Jamal talks about why religious deconstruction is necessary and what the specific topics that will be discussed in the weeks ahead will be.
