Triggers and challenges are opportunities to process past trauma and up-level our mode of being. Triggers and challenges are not comfortable, but they come to us at the exact right time when we are ready to move forward. We are all experiencing a collective ‘trigger’ right now with news of the pandemic causing lots of distress for us collectively. This is all happening at the exact right time. In this episode of The Love Cast, Dr. Katy Valentine returns to the podcast to join me for an important conversation about our current events surrounding the virus and how we can respond in a way that brings peace and healing to ourselves and the wider world. Give this episode a careful listen.

Hi friends,

What a tumultuous last few days we have experienced. If you’ve been feeling anxious and unsettled about current events surrounding the spread of the Corona virus, that is completely understandable. With that said, I want to encourage you. In the midst of this upheaval, I believe that tremendous and needed change is on the horizon for us. In times like these, our perspective matters. In the uncertainty of our times is an opportunity and a necessity to radically shift our consciousness away from previous conditioned responses of lack and fear, and into healing states of love and peace on a daily and even hourly basis. For many of us, this is a fresh opportunity to put into practice all the new modalities of self care and awareness that we have been integrating into our lives. Simply put, we’ve been preparing for a time such as this. This is no time to shrink back to past patterns of lack and fear. Please give this important episode a careful listen.

You may be familiar with the flu, but are you familiar with the non-flu?  In the long run, being prepared for and responding to the non-flu is much more vital for life and health.  In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal shares three potentially life saving responses to the non-flu.  These responses are:

1. Notice the non-flu.

2. Appreciate the non-flu.

3. Cultivate the non-flu. (both physically and spiritually)

Give this timely and important episode a careful listen.

In any post mortem of a relationship that has ended, it can be discovered what led to the death of the relationship, and conversely, what is essential for relationships to survive and thrive.  In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal & Taylor discuss how their previous divorce helped them see that these three components are vital for any marriage / committed relationship to thrive:

1. Awareness

2. Presence

3. Sensuality / Sexuality

If you are in a committed partnership / marriage, or you desire to be, this episode is for you.

Author Meg Calvin, author of the newly released book titled: I Am My Own Sanctuary: How A Recovering Holy-Roller Found Healing & Power, is my guest on this episode of The Love Cast.  In this interview, Meg talks about how the church leadership culture she was immersed in led to self abandonment and burnout, and also how she recovered and found that she already possessed all that she had been chasing in religious performance.  In addition to this, we also discuss how past life trauma and guidance from our ancestors play a part in our current lives and work.  This is an episode with lots of gold, so lean in and listen closely.

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal & Taylor discuss the recent passing of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and why his death impacted so many people. Hint: the reaction to Kobe’s death had very little to do with Kobe Bryant himself, but with our own unprocessed pain. In addition to this observation, Jamal & Taylor also talk about why Kobe Bryant lived such an influential life. Hint: his real influence had little to do with his ability to put a leather ball into a metal hoop. His true influence went beyond basketball, and if we will pay attention to his example, we can live into this same influence in our own daily lives.  Give this episode a careful listen.

Are you actively building off of the successes you had this past year?

Are you in a committed relationship or partnership of some kind?

Some people feel like they are falling behind, some people feel like they are stuck in rut, and others feel like they are overcoming obstacles and are moving forward.  I've discovered that a key ingredient to moving forward on our journey is this all important thing called 'momentum'.  In this episode of The Love Cast, Taylor and I discuss the momentum we experienced this past year, and how this is propelling us into 2020.  In addition to that, we also share some vulnerable relationship intentions that we have in our relationship for this year as well.  Give this episode a listen and discover your own momentum for this new year as well.

Every birth is the Christmas story.

In EVERY conception is the Christmas story.  It is the Divine and the human coming together in each and every conception.

Chances are, you have probably been told that the Christmas story is only about the birth of one man, two thousand years ago, who was the light of the world.  The Christmas story is typically understood as the divine incarnating as a human being (Jesus) who is called Emmanuel (which means God with us).  Chances are, you've been told that Jesus is the real reason for the Christmas season.  If this is the case, I believe you are actually missing the main point of the Christmas story.  The real lasting and enduring power of the Christmas story isn't only about the human incarnation of divinity through the birth of Jesus, its about divine incarnation in each and every birth.

Before you react negatively to this reframing of the Christmas story, let me encourage you to listen in entirety to this latest episode of The Love Cast as my bride Taylor and I discuss why the real miracle of Christmas points to the birth of humanity as a whole (including you and me), not just one man.  The implications for our lives are many.

Are you sitting down?  Okay, good.  Well, I have some fantastic news for you.  Many of us, myself included, read physical books less and less these days.  In place of physical books, many now listen to their books as audio books while on a jog, in the car, around the house, commuting by train, etc... So, it is with great excitement that I get to announce that Living For A Living is now available on Audible.com as an audio book!

I spent many hours in the recording studio recording this book that is near and dear to my heart.  I personally believe that we are all here on purpose, and moving into that purpose is the key to actually living for a living, as opposed to living only to survive.  This is why I wanted to get this book out as an audio book as well.  In this episode of The Love Cast, I share a sample chapter with you to hear so you can decide if you'd like to get an audio copy for yourself or a loved one.  Give this episode a careful listen, and then get your audio copy of Living For A Living HERE.

From evangelical Christianity to becoming a poet and speech pathologist to walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across Spain, to being one of only two hundred women on Earth who are married to a Roman Catholic priest, poet Rebecca Bayles shares her inspired and unlikely story on this week's episode of The Love Cast.  Give it an enthusiastic listen.  You'll be glad you did:)

We've all heard that religion and politics shouldn't mix, but what about love and politics?

As a student of history, we can see that the marriage of religion and politics have yielded some of the world's darkest of ages, the worst forms of tribalism, nationalism, hypocrisy, control, etc... We still see this in our current political situation today.  With that said, is there any place for a politics motivated by love?  Is public service a 'no-go' zone for spiritually attuned and love motivated people?  Is public office less 'spiritual' than other professions?  In this episode of The Love Cast, I had the privilege of interviewing U.S. Congressional candidate David Kim about his decision to run for Congress.  Give this episode an open minded listen.

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal & Taylor have a conversation about the fundamental difference between the energy and essence of a beggar and a creator.  Taylor talks about how she is observing this profound energy difference (beggar vs creator) in the classroom as an educator.  Jamal & Taylor also share a closer look at what they are personally creating in their lives and relationship together, and the challenges that a couple in a relationship can have when one person operates from the energy of a creator, and the other operates from the energy of a beggar.  Give this episode a listen and enjoy!

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal shares why the profession of 'coaching' isn't a profession that one simply chooses, rather, it is a profession that chooses you.  The term 'coach' should not be taken lightly as one chooses a job for the sake of pay and good benefits.  Like anyone who wishes to be an agent of healing and restoration in the world, one must dive into the critical work of self transformation for this to become a reality.  Jamal shares a bit of his own personal story regarding how this occurred in his life.  Give this episode a careful listen...

Is it possible for Christianity and Metaphysics to co-exist together?  Do the teachings of Jesus and Eastern traditions have anything in common?  What place does energy healing and clearing Chakras have within the Christian tradition?  What about reincarnation?  Is there any evidence of this belief within early Christianity and within the Bible?

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal has a fascinating conversation with New Testament scholar and Metaphysics practitioner Rev. Dr. Katy Valentine about what Metaphysics is, how it can aid in the healing process, and how metaphysics can co-exist within Christianity.  You won't want to miss this conversation.

P.S. After listening to this episode, Katy would like to bless the listeners with a free gift.

Give this episode a careful listen from beginning to end.

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal's wife Taylor flips the script, takes over the The Love Cast, and asks Jamal probing questions about his new book 'Living For A Living'.  This podcast conversation also veers into a couple of controversial topics regarding why the evangelical preoccupation with the 'afterlife' keeps many people from truly living for a living, and also some insight into why Jamal is passionate about the hidden history behind Mary Magdalene.  Give this episode a listen and enjoy!

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal interviews renowned and paradigm shifting artist David Hayward (Naked Pastor) about how his former religious views about money and possessions led him to financial struggle and suffering until he began to see money as spiritual.  Now, as a result of a shift in his thinking about money, David makes a living doing art, writing, and helping others break out of limiting belief systems.  This is a fascinating conversation that you don't want to miss.

Is it an accident that most of the people that excel and live the most impactful and fulfilling lives have coaches?  I don't believe that's an accident at all.  In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal interviews former UCLA All American tight end and first round NFL draft pick Paul Bergman about how good coaching, (and bad coaching), has deeply affected his life to this very day.  Paul also goes on to talk about why he believes that everyone could benefit from coaching of some kind. Give this episode a careful listen...

In this episode of The Love Cast, Jamal interviews renowned life coach Lucas Gifford about the beauty of true masculinity.  Lucas is the creator of the dynamic program for men called The Masterheart Man.

In this episode, Lucas talks about why most men are allowing their shadow masculine essence run their lives as opposed to their highest masculine essence.  As a result, many men are living as little boys wrapped in an adult man's body.  This manifests as either powerlessness and impotence (emotionally, spiritually, physically), or as a tyrant and bully.  Both are manifestations of toxic masculinity.

Within each man is also a feminine essence, yet many men are unaware of this and have a dysfunctional relationship with the feminine essence in themselves and in their relationships which prevents them from assuming the role of lover they are destined to be.  Give this significant episode a careful listen.
